Season Opener Ends In Win

This was the 1st game of the season for the new look Chelmsford Chargers. Introducing not only new players but a new Captain in the form of Goetz Stiffel along with a new assistant Andrew Malyon.

The Chargers opened the scoring after 2.31 with a goal from Richard Webber assisted by Damien Brading. The game was flowing well and after 8.30 the chargers had racked up another 2 goals coming from Richard Webber and scoring his 1st ever Chargers goal Damien. Just before the end of the 1st period Russell Rickett received a pass from Dee (Chisel) Dervish to make the score 4-0.

Its was a slow start to the 2nd period and the puck didn’t seem to want to go in the goal as both teams battled it out. Finally at 35.43 S Jones of the Predators scored their 1st of the night.

Two minutes into the 3rd period defence man Sam Blackwell scored an un-assisted goal at 42.17. The Chargers and the Predators didn’t give up and although the scoreboard was quiet, the action was high paced with quick line changes, plays being set up and moral high. Then at 47.44 another of the Chargers defencemen received a pass from Richard webber to allow Craig Ford to get the Chargers 6th goal of the night. Peterborough still kept their heads up and it finally paid of as they score 2 quick goals at 53.54 and 56.02 to bring the score up to 6-3.

The game ended 6-3 to give the Chargers a season opening win. On a good point there was only one penalty of the night be given to the Chargers Captain for cross-checking.
